This week, students from our Sustainability Council attended the 2025 Student Climate Leadership Forum at the Australia Museum.
The focus of the day was to inspire youth to take action against climate change at a local level, within their school communities.
Students were able to take part in a number of activities and workshops including seed banking with Botanic Sydney, and learning about how Banish are using technology to recycle and reuse plastics.
We were also lucky enough to hear from a number of speakers, including environmental activist and Sutherland Shire Councillor Kal Glanznig and mental health advocate Cooper Chapman , who inspired the students on the difference they can make during high school and in their youth. Greening Australia and OzHarvest also attended to discuss how they can be involved in supporting schools to both educate on climate change action and make real differences to reduce food waste and increase tree coverage on school grounds.
All in all, it was a great way to meet other like-minded students and discuss ideas on how we can continue to positively impact the Sylvania High School community through various environmental initiatives.
