The school’s local intake area is determined by the Department of Education (DoE). In accordance with the Education Reform Act 1990, we ensure that every eligible local child will have a place at our school. Our school is proud to be a school of choice for our local families and encourages all families to enrol at their local public high school.
Years 7 (2025) and Years 8 - 12
All local and non local enrolment applications for Years 8-12 are completed online. Enquiries should be directed to Toula Hannigan via the school email or on 9522 9951.
Local enrolments are required to provide proof of address including a lease agreement or council rates and a utilities bill.
Non local enrolments are required to complete the online application and address the enrolment criteria, providing supporting documentation. Should a position become vacant in a particular year group, an applicant may be invited to interview based on the Non-Local Placement Policy and Procedures.
No application will be processed until all documentation has been submitted. For both local and non local applications, a birth certificate or passport must be sighted and an enrolment form completed. The current school of the applicant will be contacted and the student may be invited for an interview.
For parents or carers seeking placement in the dedicated Support Unit, please contact Miranda Office as these enrolments are centrally managed by Department of Education personnel.
Year 7 2026 Non-Local Enrolments
‘Non-Local’ enrolment applies to students residing outside of Sylvania High School’s designated intake area. These students may be considered for enrolment depending on available space in the year group and the school’s enrolment cap.
An enrolment buffer is maintained in each year group to accommodate local applicants who move into the local area during the school year. This can impact on availability of placements for non-local applicants.
Where vacancies exist in any given year, the number of positions available to non-local applicants will be determined by the Enrolment Committee.
Non-Local Enrolment Criteria
Siblings of current students and children of permanent school staff.
Exceptional compassionate, learning, wellbeing and/or family circumstances that cannot be accommodated at the local school.

o involvement in performing arts including band, music, dance and drama
