Wellbeing

Student Health and Wellness

Commitment to supporting each and every student anchors our school community. Your child will be supported by wellbeing programs that are underpinned by a strong sense of belonging, advocacy and resilience. Their development of character and citizenship will enable them to be active citizens who are well prepared for the complex world beyond school.

Peer Support and Anti-Bullying

Your child will be nurtured by strong peer support and anti-bullying programs that are built on restorative practices and a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and discrimination in all its forms. Year 7 students are guided by the mentorship of Year 11 as they transitionminto the high school environment and navigate themcomplexities of social interactions, peer pressure andmrelationships. Your child will be encouraged to stand up and speak out about instances of bullying and supported through the process to build their esteem and strengthen their resilience. We are committed to ensuring your child feels free to be themselves and confident their individuality is respected, protected and valued at all times.

Mental Health and Social Support

Your child’s social, emotional and cognitive wellbeing is paramount to their growth and development as lifelong learners. Our mental health and social support programs, led by the Head Teacher Wellbeing, will provide your child with the requisite social, interpersonal and cognitive skills to support their holistic development. Our approach to pastoral care is a hallmark of our school, driven by our School Counsellor, School Psychologist and Youth Worker to provide your child with the skills to navigate difficulties across a range of developmental areas including peer relationships, out of home care support, socio-economic disadvantage and youth employment. They will provide expert care and guidance for your child to safeguard their mental health and wellness.

Fit and Well

Our Physical Wellbeing program allows students to engage in targeted exercises under the expert guidance of the PDHPE staff. The school’s Fitness Centre provides a space where your child’s physical wellbeing can be enhanced in a safe and supportive environment that utilises industry standard equipment and is accessible for all ages and fitness levels. We acknowledge the connection between physical and cognitive wellbeing, where regular engagement in these activities leads to sustained participation in learning and a positive sense of self.
