8:45 am to 3 pm. Some classes (eg extension courses), interest groups, special events, practices and detentions may be held before or after school.
Timetable: Sylvania High is organised on a TEN-DAY-CYCLE with six periods per day.
The timetable will be based on Week A and Week B starting with Week A every term unless advertised otherwise.
Tuesday: Students finish at 2:08 pm. Students are required to make their own way home. Those who need to wait at school for 3 pm buses will be supervised. Some Year 10, 11 and 12 students may have classes on Tuesday until 3pm. These students will be advised of such an arrangement. Year 11 and 12 TAFE students will attend TAFE from lunch onwards in most cases and may have timetabled periods on a Thursday in lieu of sport. Senior students must attend lessons that are scheduled during sport.
Thursday: SPORT DAY – Years 7-10. Years 11-12 finish school at 12:26 pm.
Note: Year 11 must attend sport until the end of Week 6 Term 1 (approximately).
Students who have sport at school are not to leave the grounds during lunchtime. Students walking to sport leave at the time directed and go directly to that sport. Students may be dismissed at the sport venue or return from sport by approximately 2:30 pm. They are then free to make their way home. Students are dismissed at 2:30 pm on sports day. Those who need to wait and catch 3pm buses will be supervised by staff in the Quad area.
