Welcome from our principal

Sylvania High School is a high-performing public school built on the values of scholarship, honour, and service. Our small school setting fosters a safe, inclusive environment where students feel known, supported, and connected to their community.

As one of the most multicultural schools in the Sutherland Shire, our student body reflects the rich diversity of modern Australia. Students learn alongside peers of different abilities, cultures, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds, helping to shape a truly inclusive school culture.

Academic excellence and breadth of opportunity are central to our mission. Teachers are held to high professional standards and are supported to meet the individual needs of every student. Strong leadership and firm discipline ensure a safe and respectful learning environment where high expectations are the norm.

Over the past six years, we’ve seen significant growth in enrolment and the highest student achievement in HSC and NAPLAN results in over a decade. With upgraded facilities, improved teaching practices, and statewide recognition—including being named among the top 10 highest achieving comprehensive schools in NSW—we are proud of the direction we are heading.
